Belligerent is a really good book, I'm glad I stumbled onto it. Once I got started I just chewed through it. I liked the setting and characters, I found myself caring about them pretty quickly. Harder to pull off given the number of characters. Of course as many good books do, it got me thinking of campaigns and character ideas. I could have read a good bit more about these Belligerents and I look forward to the next book. Strangely my only issue was with calling people belligerents, it's a good word, but for some reason it rubbed me the wrong way for the protagonists. Of course if that's the worst I have to say, how bad is it.

A good start for a series. The characters are likable with enough differences to be believed. I look forward to the next book.
Can't wait till I finish all my other books so I can read the second in this series

Well placed to be youth read as well as well written. Not many editing errors, actually very few.
Mauldin does a great job at character development. I feel like I know each character and want to read more. I am looking forward to the sequels to find out what happens to my favorite characters and if some friends get reunited! This was definitely a book worth reading!
