LOVE FINDS YOU IN SUGARCREEK, OHIO isn’t a book I would have chosen myself, but since our book club chose it, I was committed to reading it. I don’t read too many books with a religious tone unless it is subtle. I knew nothing about the Amish. The first couple of chapters were a bit hard for me to get into. The situations were too unbelievable, but as I read more I let go of my preconceived notions and drifted into the lovely setting for the story. As the author researched the Amish in depth, I soon found myself lost in reading about the way of life of these simple, hardworking people. I became engrossed in reading about Joe and Rachel, the aunts, Bobby, Eli, and Joe’s estrangement from his father. The author did a wonderful job developing her characters. I soon had a vested interest in each character and their part in the story. The flow of the story was easy to follow and created a sense of being in the middle of all activity. I could smell Lydia’s pies and breads and taste her butter cookies. I could sense Rachel’s distrust of Joe and at the same time her fascination with him, as well as Joe’s worry over his current path. And then there’s Eli! I absolutely fell in love with him.
If you enjoy a bit of mystery, some romance, and don’t mind learning about a different religious culture, you will love reading LOVE FINDS YOU IN SUGARCREEK, OHIO. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this superbly crafted novel. I give it 5 out of 5 stars.

This was one of the best Love Finds You books that I have read. Don't be fooled by the cover; although the book is centered around three Amish aunts of the heroine, it is not an "Amish" book. It's a combination of both Amish and English.

Joe, a baseball superstar, and his son take refuge in an Amish community. Rachel, whose father was raised Amish, was raised by her three Amish aunts. Although, Rachel did not chose the Amish life, she is respectful of it, and very protective of her aunts. When Joe and his son show up, Rachel is very suspicious of him and is determined to run him out of town.

The book is full of forgiveness, love, hope, romance and mystery. There's even a few, didn't see that coming moments. After reading the book, it's easy to see why they are making it into a movie. Serena B Miller is fast becoming a favorite of mine.
I was excited to read a book that takes place in the Ohio Amish country of Sugarcreek. I have taken several trips to the area and this book easily transported me back to familiar territory. It was easy to see that Ms. Miller did her research of not only the area but the Old Order Amish lifestyle as well. She provides a realistic story with characters that seem real, each have their share of problems but it is how they work thru those problems and the connections that they have with each other that truly made this a wonderful story. While there is romance there is also a bit of mystery, drama, humor blended together with the message of forgiveness. Fans of Amish fiction will love this book, but I think anyone who enjoys romance will find this to their liking.

My husband and I have been going to Sugarcreek in the Ohio Amish country for a number of years and have attended the Ohio Swiss Festival many times. Our camping organization has run the mouse game at the festival for the past 4 years as a fundraiser for our scholarship fund so we are very familiar with the author's description of the festival activities. In fact, we were at the festival when her photography crew was filming the movie version of "Love Finds You in Sugarcreek,Ohio". At the 2014 festival, I had the honor of meeting Serena Miller and her son and found her to be just a down-to-earth housewife and mother and we have kept in e-mail contact ever since. Even though you have never been to Sugarcreek or the Ohio Amish country, you will thoroughly enjoy the book as it gives you a wonderful insight into the life of Rachel, a local police woman raised by her Amish aunts and how she at first did not want them to help Joe and his young son, Bobby. As time went on, she relented and discovered what her aunts knew all along that he was just down on his luck and needed someone to give him a new lease on life but there was a surprise element in that Joe was really a celebrity in the sports world. In time, Joe's identity was exposed but he preferred his new life because love did find him and Rachel in Sugarcreek, Ohio.. This was a great read and Serena, the author, keeps your interest to the point you just can't put the book down. Serena has written several other enjoyable books but this one is my favorite.
This is my first book by Serena B. Miller and I am sure it will not be my last. If you are expecting a book about bonnets and buggies, well there are some in it, but it is SO much more than that. The characters in this book will steal your heart. It portrays the Amish in a very realistic light I think..many good qualities and some not so good. This book has a worthy story line with mystery thrown in, a bit of romance, and a crime to solve as well. A man finds himself stranded in Sugarcreek with his little boy and many secrets that he wants to protect. He ends up with 3 delightful and loving elderly Amish ladies and comes to love their simple way of life as well as the ladies themselves. But..his secrets keep him on guard at all times..especially for the sake of his little boy. This book is a must-read if you enjoy Amish novels. It's a bit different than most of them, and I was so absorbed in the book that I did NOT want to stop reading, not even to sleep. It made me tear up several times and it made me laugh out loud several times as well. Read it, you will LOVE it!
