As I have to admit that the beginning was rather slow and I did think of putting the book down and start another one, I did keep on reading, willing to find out was going on. I could not have imagine what a total mindf*ck this one would be. As several others, once I finished the book (at 4.30am), I had to reread the last chapter as I lost my mind there for a second. Doing so and reading the spoiler forum the author posted, I can only say that this is a brilliant book. I think it takes a lot of skill to put together something like this. I did not see it coming, at all.Brilliant job, Teresa Mummer! You've once again proved me that you're a brilliant writher! 2 thumbs up!

Perfect Lie Teresa Mummert 9781491291696 Books Reviews
I enjoyed this book and the characters. I the writing was great, I was able to empathize with the characters, the story kept my attention. I don't want to write more and spoil anything within the story.
When I started this book I thought it was a"drown girl meets broken guy and they live happily avert after". It was that way for the first 95% Of the book then it took a turn for the bizarre. I was totally frustrated with the wallowing and pitty party that Delilah existed in. Abel was just as frustrating. He seemed to enjoy tormenting Delilah as much as the rest of the world. I am not confused over the plot. I understand the turn of events. I guess it's the execution that has me floored. There is no consistency between events. I have no clue what real or imagined in this world. I do have to say that I shed a few tears for Delilah and Brock. They were the only characters that made sense to me. This book is depressing and at the end you find yourself scratching your head trying to figure out the twist at the end.
All I can say is WOW!!! I'm not really sure how I feel about the ending and I'm still processing it. I still think I'm confused on some stuff. Over all good book just not at all what I pictured the story to be about.
Lie still hiding from the past and Abel pushing her to get over the past and move on but will it change everything between them? Read and find out.
I've read all of Teresa Mummert's books because she had me hooked with her Honor Series. This book was different though. It took me a little while to really catch onto the ending and I did have to re-read the last chapter twice before I understood. Maybe because I just didn't expect that ending whatsoever. The ending is completely out of the blue and not at all expected. When reading this book if you think you have it figured out - trust me you don't. The book is well written just like all of Ms. Mummert's book, it's ending makes it unique. I can honestly say I have not read a book like it. You'll understand when you get to the ending.
Lie is a very sad, tragic character but so very sweet. She's been through so much in her young life from bullying at school to not being wanted by her mother. She believes she is worthless and unlovable and that's exactly what she has been taught and has lived through. She meets Brock who becomes her friend, protector, confident and her love. She wants forever with him. Brock is strong minded, strong bodied and strong willed and he loves Lie - his bird. Throughout this book you'll learn about how they meet, how they become friends and fall in love. You'll also learn how they fall apart and the despair that caused Lie. For me a few areas were left unanswered concerning Brock. I think I get his reasons for his actions but I'm not so totally sure. I don't know if his actions were for revenge for Lie because he loved her so much and ultimately to protect her or was he a bit off mentally? I need a clearer understanding of Brock.
Lie wants to start over and moves to Florida where she is rooming with Trish. Trish is the party girl. She's a terrible friend and at times pretty mean. Lie thinks being friends with her will help her be a different person but deep down she tries on some levels to help Trish be a better person but Trish isn't there. Lie knows deep in her heart that Trish isn't really her friend but Lie is a good person and even when Trish isn't good to her Lie looks out for her. Through Trish Lie meets Abel. Abel see's right through Lie's facade and he tries his hardest to get her to come to terms with herself and her past and move forward. Lie fights Abel at every turn but she has a connection with him, a desire for him but her past haunts her and also her love for Brock still holds her back. Abel wants Lie but he needs her to move foward before he can have her. There are some areas about Abel that I also don't get - especially with how the book ends. Without giving anything away I just don't understand the Trish/Abel romps. I think I get them but again ... there's still something in my mind saying I just don't have it right.
Anyway ... the book is good. The ending is not to be expected and you'll be talking about this book with your book friends for sure.
